This override attempt is for the purpose of having you pay off the
health insurance for town and school retirees. The payment schedule is
on the last page of the
Long Term Financial Report
that was distributed in the fall of 2009 town meeting.
The Framingham taxpayers now have a $280 million (up from $216 million)
liability, payable to the public sector unions for health insurance of its
retirees.
This attempt at an override has one and only one purpose, and that is to feed the public sector unions, primarily the Framingham teachers union. The Framingham teachers are already excessively compensated. The goal of the town's chief financial officer is to start a fund to accumulate the monies by initially putting in an amount of $16-20 million, to be taken from operational funds. This will result in an 8-10% across the board layoff. If that concerns you, you should be as equally concerned about how many employees the town and schools have hired over the years. This information can be obtained from the statistics kept on their retirement fund . Our town manager Julian Suso has had four years to deal with the health insurance issue and has failed. He is either inpotent or incompetent. Framingham has a glut and surplus of employees and it's high time to cull the herd. As long as this town has a Welcoming Proclamation to make Framingham a Sanctuary City, no sane frugal person should ever support an override just to fatten up the already engorged union members feeding off the public trough. The notion that our police department has it's own Sanctuary Policy is extremely offensive. It costs us about $16,000 to educate one child for one year. It takes a mere 750 Plyler-V-Doe children to cover the cost of our $12 million police department. We actually may have as many as 2,000 Plyler-V-Doe children. Another matter to consider is how many properties the town owns that could be sold to raise monies for this health insurance for retirees. |
| This override will be a simple transference of monies from your
pockets to the public sector unions.
There will be no additional services or benefits for the taxpayers. |
| The most active department in town will be the Department of Justification. |
